The Boiler Upgrade Scheme can reduce the upfront cost of an eligible heat pump installation. We help explain what may be available and support the installer-led application route.

Scheme Overview

To qualify for the scheme, your heating installer must be accredited under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). The installer can then apply for the grant on your behalf. Available funding includes:

£7,500 towards the supply and installation of an air-to-water heat pump or a ground source heat pump, including water source heat pumps

£2,500 towards the supply and installation of an air-to-air heat pump

£5,000 towards the supply and installation of a biomass boiler

VAT Support

Good news — from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2027, you won’t pay any VAT on the installation of eligible energy-saving systems, including heat pumps and biomass boilers. This 0% VAT rate can help make upgrading to a more energy-efficient heating system more affordable.

Where refrigerants are involved, they must be handled safely and legally. F-Gas certified engineers are trained to work with refrigerant gases correctly, helping protect system performance, safety and the environment.
